Criminal law — Sentence — Mentally disordered person — Accused was convicted of murder and other serious crimes and was found to be mentally disordered — Whether in view of s 13 of the Crimes Act 1961 the mandatory sentence of life imprisonment under s 172 of that Act overrides the discretion to order that accused be detained as a committed patient under the Mental Health Act 1969 — Whether committal appropriate in cases of serious offending — Criminal Justice Act 1985, s 118.
