Testamentary promises — Matrimonial property — Stepfather died intestate two months after the death of his wife — Stepson made a testamentary promises claim against his stepfather's estate on his own behalf claiming that his stepfather had expressly promised to leave him his interest in the family home and his shares in a company — As executor of his mother's will, stepson made a matrimonial property claim against his stepfather's estate — High Court Judge awarded mother's estate 50% of the family home and 50% of the company shares, and awarded the stepson the remaining half-interest in the home and the shares — Whether the awards were too high — Matrimonial Property Act 1963 — Law Reform (Testamentary Promises) Act 1949, s 3.
